The tough Rubia Bella won on her second ever start today.

The El Catorce owned and bred daughter of Bated Breath was having her first start of the year for trainer David Simcock.

She ran in the 6 furlong, Whiston Fillies’ Novice Stakes at Wolvehampton yesterday.

There were 10 runners, she was drawn 6 and Sean Levey rode.

She jumped a little slowly, missing the break, but soon made her way to mid division and settled well, tucked in, always travelling well while the leaders were making it a strongly run race.

Turning for home, she was brought down the wide outside, making progress and showing a good turn of foot to hit the front half a furlong from home where she ran on strongly to win by a length and a half.

This lovely filly is a full sister to the group winning Space Traveller, and it shouldn’t be too long before she goes looking for a bit of black type of her own!
