Al Barez returned to the racetrack after his winter break yesterday, running in the Follow @AtTheRaces On Twitter Handicap at Doncaster. It was run over 6 furlongs, the ground was good to firm, he was ridden by Jack Mitchell and was drawn 2 of 6 runners. He jumped well and was just off the leader for the first 4 furlongs. Jack asked him to go and he went to the lead easily, extending it by a couple of lengths and looked like he was going to win easily, but Mojomaker pressed him and he stuck on gamely to win in a photo finish by a whisker, getting a little tired and on ground that was too quick for him.
This was a great result for trainer Tom Clover and owner Mr Raed El Youssef.
