Al Barez kicks off the 2023 turf season for Global Equine Group horses with an eye-catching first start of the season at Newmarket in the competitive Sprint Race. Dropping back to 5 furlongs for the first time, he was a little slow away and had to settle at the back of the pack. Always travelling strongly, he threaded his way through horses, but was squeezed for room at the key point in the race, and, lost a little momentum, and then tired in the final 100m, to finish 4th. A pleasing first run of 2023 and over 5 furlongs, he is bound to improve from this, setting up an exciting season ahead.
