Aljari took the feature race at Chelmsford yesterday, the Weatherbys Stallion Book Chelmsford City Cup Handicap, stepping back up to 7 furlongs, making it 3 wins in a row, and picking up some valuable prize money in the process.

The seven year old was ridden by Jack Mitchell for trainer Tom Clover.

Drawn 4 of the 7 runners, he settled behind the leaders, on the rail where he travelled sweetly for the first 5 furlongs, turning for home, Jack asked him for an effort and he showed a good turn of foot to take the lead where he ran on and ran out the winner by a length with a bit in hand.

It’s great to see this yard favourite back to his best and loving his racing again after issues with his throat have been resolved by the team at Rossdales, headed up by Richard Payne.

A wonderful result for owner Mr Raed El Youssef.
