Assail put in a gutsy performance yesterday when winning the BetUK. Home of the Acca-Fenwa Maiden Stakes at Wolverhampton yesterday, on only his second start.

The son of No Nay Never was drawn 5 of the five runners with Luke Morris up, it was run over an extended 9 furlongs.

He jumped well and was settled just behind the leaders where he was quite keen for the first furlong traveling strongly throughout.

2 from home, Luke angled him out and he responded well, galloping on led at the furlong pole and battled with the Godolphin newcomer to get on top and win by a neck.

The front two were 8 lengths clear of the rest of the field.

This win continued the great form of owner Mr Raed El Youssef and completing an across the cards treble for trainer David Simcock.
