AL Barez continued his winning ways while taking the Read Harry Cobden’s Blog At Planet Sport Bet Handicap at Southwell on Sunday afternoon, picking up some valuable prize money.

The yard favourite at trainer Tom Clovers’ was ridden by Oisin Murphy as regular jockey Jack Mitchell was unavailable.

Drawn 7 of 11 runners in the 6 furlong contest, he was settled at the rear of the field for the first part of the race, he started to make headway round the final bend, 2 furlongs from home.

He came through the field, enjoying passing horses to get his head in front half a furlong from home where he had a sustained battle with the eventual second, coming out on top and showing a great attitude with his head down and ears flat back to win by a neck.

Oisin said “He was push-button to ride and I loved his attitude. He didn’t win very far but I probably got there early enough because the pace collapsed”

Another win for owner Mr Raed Youssef taking his total to 4 for 2024.
