Melek Alreeh got his head in front again in a thrilling finish to the Free Bets With BetUK Bet Club Handicap at Southwell last night.

The 12 furlong handicap had 7 runners, he was drawn 2 and was ridden by Rob Hornby.

He jumped ok and sat just behind the leaders for the most part of the race, 2 from home he asked for an effort and Melek responded well, going between horses, he kept just off the leaders and when Rob threw everything at him, he galloped out really well to get his head in front to win by a neck.

The jockey reported that he won easier than the winning margin suggests which is great for trainer David Simcock and owner Mr Raed El Youssef.
